The Alice Award 2006

The German director Valeska Grisebach won for her film, Longing (Sehnsucht), which was described as a quiet devastating drama.

Longing
The jury’s motivation was:

“Longing is a strong emotion, and it is this emotion that Valeska Grisebach makes us feel and understand. She has described it in a surprisingly sharp and unsentimental way. Grisebach has the ability to tell neither too little nor too much, and to reach down into the minds of the audience, thus deeply touching them and raising important questions.”

The Alice Jury in 2006 was:

Nicolas Bro

Actor and playwright
Bro has left his mark on countless Danish films with his conspicuously good performances. He is also active in the theatre, for which he has written numerous plays. His latest effort as a film actor was as the predominant lead in Christoffer Boe’s Offscreen, which can well be said to be borne by Bro’s striking talent – and which he also filmed himself.

Nicolas Bro

Lotte Andersen

A versatile actress, who has left her mark on both the theatre, television and film world in
Denmark. Since her feature debut in Nightwatch, she has taken part in countless films. In Oh Happy Day she played the all-powerful protagonist and also wrote the screenplay together with Hella Joof and Jannik Johansen.

Anthony Dod Mantle

However, he is not just a shining star on the Danish firmament, but also has an international career as a cinematographer for directors such as Danny Boyle, and has recently shot Brothers of the Head, which is shown at the festival in 2006.

Despite her young age, she has a long and multi-faceted career behind her. She has made children’s TV both in front of and behind the camera, edited a book about today’s feminism, and has brought numerous feature films onto the market.
