In 2006, Copenhagen International Film Festival was able to welcome 50 international filmmakers and actors from many different countries – amongst other England, Serbia, Hungary, Romania, Italy, Germany, Sweden and Turkey. In addition, more than 50 Danish filmmakers were present at the screenings of their films. |

The festival kicked off with a fantastic gala premiere of Lars von Trier’s latest film, The Boss of it All, with both von Trier and the film’s cast present. The British director Stephen Frears also attended the festival and presented his latest film The Queen, which stars Helen Mirren in the lead role. Both Frears and his fellow directors Goran Paskaljevic from Serbia, Amos Gitai from Israel and Istvan Szabo from Hungary were willing to share their knowledge at the festival’s master classes and seminars, which were held at the Danish Film School. |

The Dutch master of cinematography Robby Müller, the Swedish actress Tuva Novotny and the two directors Pawel Pawlikowski and Kornél Mundruczó, from England and Hungary respectively, were all in the jury, which, under the expert leadership of the jury president Ghita Nørby, handed out the Golden Swan awards. The Danish film world was amongst other present with the actor and dramatist Nicolas Bro, who headed the Alice jury, and the director Henning Carlsen, who was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. |
