This year’s competition films
When Copenhagen International Film Festival fades up for this year’s film event on 20 September, the audience can experience 147 fantastic films. 11 of them will get special attention, namely the films in competition, which compete for the six categories of the festival’s Golden Swan award.

Mother Dearest:
This film is a heart-rending story about Rune, who lives alone with his mother after his father’s death. Rune tries to fill the empty space at home and looks after all the practical matters in order to keep things going. The local authorities regard the family as dysfunctional and consider a forced removal of Rune from his home. He, on the other hand, is desperately trying to convince himself and his environment that everything is in perfect order.
Boy Meets Girl:
A screenwriter is given the chance to meet a female producer. They inspire each other both artistically and romantically. Together, they dream about the individual scenes, and their game develops into a cavalcade of different film genres, where they themselves play the lead roles. We are taken on a tour de force through everything from French New Wave to German discount porn and Ingmar Bergman to Danish specialities à la Korch and Dogme.
Young Man Falling:
17-year-old Hue is living on the fringe of a true perception of reality. Cars pursue him, while a world full of rules and systems asks for his attention. How can he concentrate on his preparations for his French exam when the stuffed animals in his room begin to interfere? And what about Irene, who disturbs him with her invitations? Hue is an experimental film with a captivating visual style.
