This year’s competition films
When Copenhagen International Film Festival fades up for this year’s film event on 20 September, the audience can experience 147 fantastic films. 11 of them will get special attention, namely the films in competition, which compete for the six categories of the festival’s Golden Swan award.

“Mother is the best in the world” is not something Julien would subscribe to. He is a kind and dutiful boy on the verge of adulthood and lives in a beautiful villa together with his model family - a busy academic father and a housekeeping mother and older sister. But under the neat façade, the boy is a slave to his mother’s overprotective and controlling attention. She loves Julien so much, that she can’t control her anger when he disappoints her. He just wants to be like everyone else. The father is a doormat who doesn’t want to get involved, while the boy is obviously driven further and further into the abyss. When the sister moves away from home, Julien is alone and a confrontation is unavoidable. Mon Fils A Moi is a nerve-wracking film, where one constantly feels that something terrible is about to happen. Nathalie Baye is outstanding as the unpleasant mother.
