This year’s competition films
When Copenhagen International Film Festival fades up for this year’s film event on 20 September, the audience can experience 147 fantastic films. 11 of them will get special attention, namely the films in competition, which compete for the six categories of the festival’s Golden Swan award.

Hagen is big and strong, but he has the mind of a child. When he is meant to move from an institution to his nephew’s place, he meets Dohmühl, a scaffolder who is drunk as a skunk. Hagen helps him with his broken car and is invited to stay for the night. But Hagen now thinks that he has come to his nephew’s home and gets accustomed to his new surroundings. Dohmühl’s company has gone bankrupt, and his love for his neighbour Ina is not crowned with luck. What’s more, he cannot get rid of his new flatmate. But when Hagen manages to get Ina’s attention directed towards Dohmühl, he slowly accepts his new friend’s presence. This marks the beginning of a peculiar friendship between two eccentric characters. Pepe Planitzer lovingly portrays the three outsiders, who against all odds find a place in this world, with amusing lightness and an underplayed sense of black humour.
