Turkey is a country with strong cultural, social and religious contrasts. They all collide dramatically in Abdullah Oguz’s adaptation of Zülfü Livaneli’s popular novel about three individuals who, each in their own way, try to find peace in a world that is far too demanding. Meryem (Özgü Namal) is accused of prostitution after being brutally raped in her home town, and her cousin Cemal is given the task of killing her to preserve the family’s honour. But Cemal has just returned from his military service, and his war traumas have triggered a dawning scepticism towards old traditions. The destinies of two of the young people are woven together with that of a wealthy professor of literature, who has escaped from materialist society. They all end up on board a luxury yacht on the azure blue sea, where the most unpredictable bonds are tied. But peace only comes after a conflict...
Monday the 24th the actress Özgü Namal will attend the screening. Efes Pilsener will provide a beer after the screening.
