This year’s competition films
When Copenhagen International Film Festival fades up for this year’s film event on 20 September, the audience can experience 147 fantastic films. 11 of them will get special attention, namely the films in competition, which compete for the six categories of the festival’s Golden Swan award.

To everyone’s surprise, the arrival of a strict and self-righteous Imam in a small Anatolian village leads to an unexpected romantic love story. Lively gossip abounds in the sunny and relaxed station village, and religious rules aren’t taken too seriously in day-to-day life. The big question is: how did the old imam manage to get himself such a young and beautiful wife? What’s more, why does she seem so unhappy, and why does she always keep to herself? Once the couple’s secret starts unfolding, a train of events is set in motion with its own feel-good and tumultuous pace. In the end, the Imam’s beautiful wife has to ask herself, what true love really is, and what choices in life she should make. The entire story is commented on by the small boy Adam, who, with his own Cinema Paradiso charm, is responsible for setting off the chaotic train of events.
