This year’s competition films
When Copenhagen International Film Festival fades up for this year’s film event on 20 September, the audience can experience 147 fantastic films. 11 of them will get special attention, namely the films in competition, which compete for the six categories of the festival’s Golden Swan award.

Veteran director Fernando Colomo is in good shape, and he proves it in this amusing comedy about cross-cultural love. The Spaniard Cain has never been successful with women. And as if it wasn’t enough that Cain’s cocky brother Abel has married his ex-girlfriend, he now also has to deal with the fact that his brother has got the girl upstairs pregnant. Aisha’s family is from Bangladesh and runs a restaurant in the street, and Cain has long been keen on her. Abel moves away from the city to escape from the compromising situation, and Cain decides to save the girl’s honour by marrying her - completely pro forma. But it’s not quite as easy as he thinks, since he has to convert to Islam as well as keep the whole matter a secret from her family. Things are turbulent, and the energetic screenplay uses a charming splash of Bollywood as it jumps from one comic incident to another.
