This year’s competition films
When Copenhagen International Film Festival fades up for this year’s film event on 20 September, the audience can experience 147 fantastic films. 11 of them will get special attention, namely the films in competition, which compete for the six categories of the festival’s Golden Swan award.

Even if a war is followed by peace, there is usually not much peace in the minds of the people whose lives have been affected by the war. Christian Wagner’s impressive production Warchild tells the story about a Bosnian mother (Labina Mitevska), who goes to Germany ten years after the war in the Balkans to look for her daughter Aida. Her daughter disappeared as a 2-year-old when she was transported away from the war together with other children. Everyone thought that Aida had gone forever, but when the mother accidentally finds a trace, she sets out on a tireless search for her. She finds her with a German family, which has adopted her thinking that her parents have died. She is now called Christina, and her language and culture is more German than Bosnian. Warchild tells a moving story about the difficult question as to who has a right to Aida - and what is best for her?
