A sound technician returns to her native village after her mother’s sudden death. Here, she starts suspecting that there is something suspicious about the death, but there is no help to be gained from the village’s secretive and tight-lipped inhabitants. One day, she is recording some background sound in her mother’s house and captures fragments of sound that can only come from the past. She starts using her sound equipment obsessed with the idea of finding out what exactly happened on the day of her mother’s death. This takes her back to a past that harbours hitherto unknown details about her mother’s life. Repressed and hidden facts start revealing themselves, many of them about her own childhood. The film is a brilliant realisation of a simple, yet ingenious idea. It is a captivating and mysterious story, which gets under ones skin and lingers in the mind long after one has left the cinema.
The film is nominated for the Alice Award.
