This year’s competition films
When Copenhagen International Film Festival fades up for this year’s film event on 20 September, the audience can experience 147 fantastic films. 11 of them will get special attention, namely the films in competition, which compete for the six categories of the festival’s Golden Swan award.

Tasty curry dishes, grand emotions and irrepressible desires are thrown together in Pratibha Parmar’s multicultural queer Bollywood comedy. When the Scottish/Indian girl Nina returns home to Glasgow to attend her father’s funeral, she finds that the family is about to lose the father’s wonderful Indian curry joint. The only way to keep it is to win the TV competition “Best of the West”. She therefore gets together with Lisa, a cook, and they start experimenting in the kitchen. But the two beautiful girls start developing a taste for each other too, and things get tricky when Nina’s family expects her to marry the Indian heir to the competing curry joint. With a little help from both fate and her fun-loving drag queen friend, Nina manages to get herself safely through most of it. In the best Bollywood tradition, love - almost always - conquers all.
