Hotel Very Welcome

Hotel Very Welcome
In her feature debut, Sonja Heiss dissects both the rootlessness of today’s youth and the global backpacker culture. She does this with few means, surprising wit and a piercing rawness. Five young people are travelling through Asia, scrambling through the days, and, each in their own way, seeking out both their inner selves and the outer reality. Marion has checked into an Indian ashram to find the meaning of life, but remains just as lost as before. For Josh and Adam, Thailand is just one long rave. Svenja has got stranded in a hotel room in Bangkok, in transit between flights. She has endless, absurdly flirtatious phone conversations with a Thai travel agent, who’s English is far from perfect. Leo aspires to find the authentic Asia, but it turns out that reality back at home is far more complicated than all the mysteries of the East put together. Hotel Very Welcome is The Beach for realists.
