This year’s competition films
When Copenhagen International Film Festival fades up for this year’s film event on 20 September, the audience can experience 147 fantastic films. 11 of them will get special attention, namely the films in competition, which compete for the six categories of the festival’s Golden Swan award.

9-year-old Anna’s life is turned upside down when her parents (played by the highly watchable Stefano Accorsi and Julie Depardieu) suddenly blossom into delayed hippies in 1970s Paris. When her father, a successful lawyer, chooses to change his career in order to become the French spokesman for Allende’s government in Chile, and when her mother decides to champion the pro-abortion movement, the golden days of a bourgeois lifestyle in a large house with a housekeeper are over. The family moves to a small attic flat; long-bearded hippies come and go at all times of the day; and suddenly Mickey Mouse is a fascist villain. And whose fault is it all? Fidel’s! Julie Gavras (herself the daughter of the famous, politically committed filmmaker Costa Gavras) hits the jugular of a chaotic era with her pure, witty and highly original feature debut.
Saturday the 22nd the director Julie Gavras will introduce the film and answer questions from the audience after the screening. The French embassy offers a glas of wine after the screening.
